How to play Rune Words
Your goal is to connect the golden energy source to every blue crystal. Words are your tools: each spell changes the board instead of scoring points.
- Find GROW, TURN or SWAP by tracing four neighboring letters. Use a mouse, swipe on a touch screen, or tap one letter at a time.
- Choose a highlighted target. GROW needs a sleeping bridge beside a growth seed or a previously grown bridge; TURN needs a direction gate.
- For SWAP, choose two letters that share a purple mirror number. Review the before-and-after preview, then press Cast.
- Light every crystal to finish the level. Your progress saves in this browser, and the next level unlocks immediately.
Three words. A world of possibilities.
- GROW activates one sleeping bridge. Some bridges reveal letters, making a new spell possible. Growth does not require electricity.
- TURN rotates a gate by 90°. Gates with the same blue link number rotate together for one charge. Gates connect only up/down or left/right; neighboring ports must line up.
- SWAP exchanges letters in a matching mirror group. It does not move tiles or change energy connections.
- Paths can bend, but cannot cross diagonally or reuse a tile in the same word. Letters are reusable between spells, including in unlit areas.
- Every spell has a limited budget. Mistakes in letter selection do not spend charges. A discovered spell shortcut works only while its word still exists.

Start at an unlit crystal and trace the route backward. Decide whether you need a bridge, a gate rotation or a missing letter before spending a spell.
Press Hint to reveal a valid next spell, numbered letters and its target. Press Hint again to prepare that move for your review; you still choose when to cast.
Hints solve your current board. If you have used a charge on a dead end, the game tells you to Undo or Restart. Neither has a penalty.
Watch what changes after GROW and SWAP. A new letter can unlock TURN, and one restored bridge can power several crystals. There is no timer, so take your time.

Is Rune Words free to play online?
Yes. All 30 levels are free in your browser, with no download, account, purchase or paid hints.
What kind of word game is this?
Rune Words is a single-player word logic puzzle. You spell GROW, TURN and SWAP to change bridges, gates and letters, then connect energy to all crystals. It is not a word guessing or vocabulary quiz.
How do hints work?
Hint searches for a solution from your current board, then marks the next word and its target. A second press prepares the move without casting it. If the board is unsolvable, it recommends Undo or Restart.
How many levels are there?
There are 30 fixed puzzles in five chapters of six levels. Complete each level to unlock the next. You can replay any unlocked level.
Can I play on mobile or with a keyboard?
Yes. Swipe or tap neighboring letters on mobile. With a keyboard, use arrows to move between tiles and Enter or Space to select. Backspace removes a letter and Escape clears a selection.
Does the game save my progress?
Yes, locally on this device and browser. Unlocked levels, your current spell history and audio preferences are shared across the three interface languages. Clearing browser storage removes them.
Do spell words change with the language?
No. The three magic words are always GROW, TURN and SWAP. The interface, instructions and hints are available in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
Is this related to Diablo rune words?
No. This is an original browser word puzzle on OnlinePuzzle. It has no equipment recipes, rune combinations or connection to Diablo.
