About Phantom Words Online
Phantom Words Online is a free browser-based sliding word puzzle on OnlinePuzzle.cc. Move entire rows or columns to form words, reveal letters hidden beneath friendly ghosts, and use every letter tile at least once to finish. Play 20 levels in English, Spanish or Brazilian Portuguese, with a separate set of puzzles for each language. There is no mandatory timer, account or download.

How to play Phantom Words
Find words, reveal letters
Fill a complete horizontal or vertical segment with a word. Tap its word button to confirm. Each newly used tile reveals one hidden letter.
Use every tile to win
Keep finding words until every letter tile has been used. Earn up to three stars and unlock the next puzzle.
The little rules of word magic
- Read left to right or top to bottom. A word must fill an entire gap-separated segment and contain at least three letters.
- Only fully visible words in the game’s curated language dictionary can be confirmed. You never need to guess a hidden letter.
- Tile identity, visibility and usage travel with each letter. Gaps stay fixed. Locked tiles split movement, but still participate in words.
- A word earns its vocabulary points once. Repeating it can still cover new tiles. Undo restores the board, reveals and score together.
- Earn 3 stars within the level’s target moves without hints; 2 stars within the relaxed target; 1 star for every finish. Hints mark the attempt as assisted.

Ghost
A real letter is hiding here. New tile coverage reveals it.
Gap
An empty space splits words and movement into separate segments.
Multi-letter
CH or another letter group moves as one tile. All its letters count in a word.
Wildcard
★ can stand for one letter. Choose from the valid word buttons before confirming.
Locked tile
Stays in place until used in a word. Then it becomes freely movable.
A real puzzle: how to solve Level 1＋
Start with ATC on the top row and six hidden letters. Slide ATC one place right to make CAT, then confirm CAT: 3 of 9 tiles are used and SUN appears. Confirm SUN to reveal GDO. Slide GDO one place left, confirm DOG, and finish in two moves with all nine tiles used.
Small tricks, big discoveries
Look both ways
A column can be just as useful as a row. Look for intersections before moving.
Prefer fresh letters
Words with unused tiles reveal more of the puzzle and earn more points.
Think in circles
A letter that leaves one end returns at the other. One move can shift several spaces.
Take your time
There is no clock. Undo experiments freely, or ask a ghost for a hint.

Is Phantom Words free to play?
Yes. All 20 levels are free, with no account or download required.
How do I reveal hidden letters?
Confirm a fully visible valid word. Every tile used for the first time reveals one letter from that level’s fixed reveal queue.
Why is my word not accepted?
It must fill the entire continuous row or column segment, contain only visible tiles, and appear in the selected language’s curated dictionary. Words read backwards and partial words do not count.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. Swipe directly on the board, or select a tile and tap the direction buttons. The board also supports mouse dragging and keyboard arrows.
Does the game save my progress?
Progress, unlocked levels, stars and the current puzzle are stored in this browser when local storage is available. Each language has its own save.
How is this different from word search?
In word search the letters stay still. Here you slide whole rows and columns, uncover hidden letters and plan how to use every tile.
Can I play in Spanish or Portuguese?
Yes. Use the language menu for separate Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese puzzles, dictionaries and instructions.
