Slice Master guide: control the landing before chasing the score

Back to the game →

In OnlinePuzzle’s Slice Master, use measured taps to cut with the blade, preserve an air boost for corrections and reach a safe landing before chasing extra points. Each jump allows two additional midair taps, refreshed when you land. This guide covers this independent browser edition, whose levels and scoring should not be confused with every other game called Slice Master.

Learn the controls and the landing cycle

Start the game, then click or tap the play area, or press Space, to flip. The knife travels forward automatically during a jump. Extra taps alter its flight, but you have only two before the next landing. Pink spikes or falling below the islands end the attempt; white platforms are safe.

Think in three stages: launch, adjust, land. A beginner’s useful goal is simply to reach the next safe platform while leaving one correction available. Spending both extra taps immediately removes that option. R restarts, P or Escape pauses, and F toggles fullscreen when the game has focus.

Read the course before following the fruit

Look past the nearest object to identify the landing area and the hazard beside it. Then decide whether the object lies on that route. A fruit floating above a gap is an invitation, not a requirement. If a tempting cut makes the landing uncertain, skip it while learning the stage.

Only the blade slices; the handle does not. Gray metal is another important exception: it cannot be cut and knocks the knife back. Later stages introduce narrow or elevated landings, moving platforms and moving spikes. Reassess their position instead of repeating a successful early-level tapping rhythm everywhere.

Observed example: one flip and a safe landing

The first screenshot shows Level 1 after restart, with Score 0 and the knife at the left starting position. In the observed input sample, pressing Space once sent the knife forward; it landed upright farther along the white platform with Score 10, as shown in the second screenshot.

This demonstrates one flip and landing, not a completed level or tested air-boost sequence. The visible 311 coins and level stars belonged to an existing save; they were not earned by this action. Use the example to practise the initial launch, then add corrections deliberately. On retries, change one timing choice at a time so you can identify what improved the landing.

Build combos without sacrificing the run

Consecutive cuts within 1.2 seconds build a streak, and landing ends it. A row of reachable targets is therefore a better combo opportunity than scattered objects requiring risky corrections. Three or more cuts trigger the combo celebration, while longer streaks add points.

Object values differ: fruit gives 10, donuts 15, burgers 20, wood 12, colored blocks 5 and golden fruit 30. Use those values to compare optional targets, not to justify every dangerous detour. A landing that breaks your streak can still be the right choice because it restores your air taps and preserves the attempt.

Judge finish targets by their actual reward

The finish tower applies an operation to your base score, which includes object and combo points. For a hypothetical base score of 150, these outcomes show why the target matters:

Illustrative finish rewards, not a recorded run
TargetReward
×101,500
+80230
÷275
−50100

Rewards round down and cannot fall below zero. Reaching the finish outside a target uses ×1. Start planning the final approach early and try to retain an adjustment rather than spending everything on the last small object.

From level 10, the BONUS finish target can open a separate golden stage. The regular reward is banked first. Bonus play lasts up to 30 seconds; reaching the end, hitting a hazard or exhausting the time banks those bonus earnings. The bonus uses ×1 and does not end at another multiplier tower.

Frequently asked questions

How many extra taps do I get in the air?

Two per jump. Landing replenishes them. Repeated input is not an unlimited flight mechanic in this edition.

Why did touching an object not cut it?

The blade must make the cut; the handle does not slice. Gray metal is unsliceable and knocks the knife back.

Why did my combo stop?

Landing ends the streak. Cuts also need to remain within the 1.2-second combo window to keep a chain going.

Does failing spend my saved coins?

A failed regular attempt does not spend coins already in your wallet. Do not confuse the current attempt with previously banked earnings.

Does the game end after level 20?

There are 20 designed stages, followed by deterministic generated challenges. Unlocked stages can be replayed, and records are saved locally rather than on a global leaderboard.

Practice these steps in Slice Master.
